Creating Faux Rust

A few weeks ago, I shared this card using a couple of new items I had recently ordered. Many people commented how realistic the pipes looked and asked how I was able to get that affect.

I decided to put together a video to walk you through the technique which is listed below.

The kit I used is from Tattered Angels and is one of their Naturally Aged Kits.  The die cut I used is from Tim Holtz and is called Pipeline. I started out by add a generous amount of the white High Impact Paint (HIP). I dried it using my heating tool focusing on the areas that had pools of paint so that it would bubble up.

I then painted on the Clay Base Board (BB) paint focusing on the areas that bubbled up. I dried this layer using my heating tool once again.

Then I painted the entire surface using Sugar Maple Glimmer Mist.

Then I sprayed the finished piece with stone Glimmer Mist.

To darken up the edges, I used the color black soot of a distress crayon.

It is a very easy process once you have all the tools and supplies.  I hope you enjoyed it.

Thanks for stopping by.
