Design Team Member on Path of Positivity

I have some exciting news! I have been asked to be part of the design team over at Path of Positivity. If you recall, I was a guest designer last month for this challenge blog and now I will be part of the family over there for future challenges.

I have  been blogging for about 6 months now and can't believe the world that I have uncovered. It is amazing that I have met so many wonderful people who are helpful, generous and a pleasure to work with. I wanted to create something special to announce my new DT post and remembered there was an image over at Cuddlebug Cuties that would be perfect.

This image is called tascha and is one of Anna Stillwell's wonderful creations. She is very generous with her images and offers them up for free.

The side sentiment and "Crafty Friend" stamp is from Fresh Squeezed stamps and is one I got for Christmas from a friend.  I have made so many "Crafty Friends" on line, and now I will  make a few more being part of the team over at Path of Positivity.

The inside of the card message is cut from some scrap paper that I had and thought it was a nice fit being that I am meeting so many people all around the World!

Here is a link to the challenge details. It is a month long challenge and themes are centered around...positivity. I hope you check us out and play along. It is a unique challenge and hopefully through your journey, you will meet some new "crafty friends."

Vintage Mom & Daughter

Ahhh, Friday! Now we just have to get through the day. For many of you out there, your day is already over. Well, I am here this morning to share a card I put together yesterday for the Digi Darla Vintage photo inspiration challenge. I was just looking through some of my images last night and came across some of my digi darla's. So, I popped over to the challenge blog to see what was going on and saw I have one day to submit a card. I try to use their images when I play, but was not sure how I would do a vintage card. I also got some new toys to play with. I finally took the plunge and purchased some Copic Markers. It is a set of 6 markers called SKIN. I thought this would be a good starter for me as I always seem to have skin to color. I had a 40% off coupon and a Gift Card, so out of pocket was only $5.

I was very surprised at how well they blend. My chromatix markers have been working fine, but I only had one marker for skin, and I wanted to try some blending. I may watch some You Tube videos on blending today to see if I can get any hints. So if any of you out there have some suggestions, I am all ears.

When I saw this image with the mother and daughter, I thought I would give it a try.

The inspiration photo below gives you many ways you could go with this card.

Pearls, flowers, green, sure I could work with that. So here is what I came up with:

I had a sentiment that I was going to put on the outside, but when I placed it, it covered up some of the frame on the doily, and I really like the framed look. So may just go with this. I think this would make a great Mother's Day card...hmm. Will just have to wait and see.

Here is what I used:

Paper
  • DCWV - The Rustic Stack
  • Kraft-Core Cardstock - Nostalgic Collection
  • Off White card stock for base
Punches & Die Cuts
  • 3 floral punches for flowers
  • Sizzix - Tim Holtz on the Edge Doily
Embellishments
  • Pearls
  • Ribbon
Coloring
  • Chromatix Markers
  • Copic for Skin, mother's hair & pages of book: E00,E11,E93,E15,E18,E000
Well, I hope you all enjoy your Friday and the last day in January. Can you believe the month is already over? Wow, time sure flies.

Stella says Sketch

I have  been wanting to enter into Bugaboo's Stella's Sketch challenge and have finally gotten around to it. These images are so fun, You have seen me use a few in my prior blogs.

They have some very funny images that just crack me up! The sketch we had to use is below:

Doesn't look too hard right? Well, I typically avoid sketches like these as I just can't seem to get my rectangles to match. But I said I would try new things this year, so here goes:

My sentiment is not quite under the image, but just could not get it to fit. What a funny image don't ya think?
You can enter up to 3 projects, so if I have time, I may do another. I guess the more I practice with sketches like these, the better I will get.

Any hoo...hope you have a fab rest of your day. Toodles!

WAW - Fill-In DT Member last week

Well, this is my last week to fill in as a designer over at Word-Art-Wednesday. Karen has been a great hostess and I have enjoyed participating all month long.

As always, this week's scripture can be found over at WAW. Sure hope you take a moment to pop over and check it out.

Our generous sponsors this week are Scrappy Gourmet and Flying Unicorn.

The theme is anything goes. We just ask that you use encouraging or uplifting sentiments in your entries.  Feel free to use the free scripture/word art that is provided. Remember, you can enter up to 5 projects and they can be anything, not just cards.

Here is the card I came up with using this week's scripture:

I found this stamp in a used bookstore in Tucson. I just love it and think it works great with this scripture.

It has been a pleasure filling in this month over at WAW. I hope that in some small way, my projects have encouraged you. Can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Take care and God bless!

Who doesn't Love a good Pajama Party?

It is coming on the end of the month and there still are a couple of challenges that I need to enter in order to get my freebie the next month. So I was up late last night putting the finishing touches on my card. I wasn't sure what direction I was going to go on this card, but I think it turned out cute.

when I was coloring her, she looked like she was getting ready for a pajama party with her fancy P.J's. So why not? I used Valentine colors as I figured there may be a few pajama parties on Valentines Day (wink wink).

So here she is:
This is Jewel Junebug Buggmee. One of Heather's newest additions to her Lacy Sunshine Collection.  The theme is Bingo, and I used Ribbon, Die Cut and Card Candi. I wasn't sure what Card Candi was so I am hoping the bling on her hair pins counts.

She has two little ladybug friends that I also added to the card. The challenge closes in 4 days, so I guess I made it in the nick of time. I think I will enter her into a few other challenges along the way.

Bit By The Bug Tuesday - Snow Posh

It is Tuesday and you know what that means? Well if you don't, I am about to tell you, LOL. It is time to introduce you to an other Bit By the Bug freebie over at Creative Bug on the Loose. This week we have Snow Posh.

He is a cute little snowman, part of the Feeling Frosty Collection over at Creative Bug Digital Snapshots
Don't miss your chance to add this little snowman to your collection.  And isn't he a cute one? Just so happy in his stylish little hat and scarf. Wouldn't he be great on your next winter card?
Snow Posh
I used Blue card stock for the base of my card and matted it with snowflake paper from The paper studio stack collection called Ornamental Christmas. I used my fancy scissors to cut around the digi image and another piece of paper from the same stack. Blue button, twine and gems are from my stash and I finished the card off with  a sentiment from Created with TLC

Now in order to take advantage of this week's free digi stamp, Snow Posh, you have to head over to Creative Bug on the Loose and follow the instructions on how to grab it. While you are over there, don't forget to check out all the great digi's available in the store for purchase.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to Creative Bug on the Loose Now!

I've caught the bug, have you?

Imagine That...

Happy Monday all! I am so proud of myself. One of the things I said I wanted to do this year was to play along in some progressive challenges. There are 2 more that I want to start, this being one of them. These, along with my DT responsibilities should keep me busy.

Imagine that has a progressive challenge and typically you would need to buy into it for the first image. But...if you sign up for their newsletter, they give you the first image for FREE! Well, sign me up!!! I am not sure how long this offer will be available though.

I am very excited to be part of this progressive challenge as they have such cute digi images. The image we get to play with this month is Jenn & Friends.  She is sooo cute! I love the Hot Cocoa button!

I really like these winter stamps because they are great for so many occasions, not just Christmas. The nice thing about these sets is you also get a colored image, for those times that you need a "quick card" and do not have time to color.

There was even a sketch you could follow...

So here is my card:
I decided to go with Pinks.   I colored the image using my Chromatix Markers. They have been working great. Here is a closer look at the Cocoa Button and inside of the card:

Here is what I used:

  • White Card stock for base of card
  • Matted with pink Hearts and Flowers paper from Recollections: My Favorite Things
  • Solid Pink paper (heart, Scallop around button and strips: DCWV - Le Tres Chic Card stock
  • Image matted on Black card stock
  • Spellbinders: Classic Scallop circles and Standard Circles
  • Pink Ribbon from my stash
The challenge ends in 4 days, so there still is time to hop on over!

Arizona - It's A Dry Heat

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I wanted to enter at least one more card into the Candy Challenge over at Freshly Brewed that has been happening all month long. I recently won some FB images in a card challenge, so I thought I would make one up.  I was excited to see that there was a cactus available. I have two great rubber stamps that I found at a used bookstore with an Arizonian theme.

In the summer, we get into the hundreds. The way we justify it is we say "It's a Dry Heat." We don't get the humidity, but it is sure like an oven. Once you get past 110 degrees though, hot is hot. It doesn't matter if it is dry or not.  I thought these would make cute little note cards.
Here is the other stamp that I found. What a great combination don't ya think?  You can enter up to 5 projects in the blog candy challenge, this will be my third entry.

Here is a picture of the blog candy. I think I will enter this card in a couple of other challenges as well.

Suzy Bee's Bloomin Challenge #13 - Anything Goes with Ribbon

Hi Ya'll. this is the last January challenge over at Suzy Bee's Bloomin Challnege. Can you believe we are almost through the first month of the year?  This week is Anything Goes...with Ribbon. I know everyone loves Anything Goes, just don't forget to add the ribbon to your project.

Our sponsor this week is Stitchy Bear. Make sure you pop over and check out the wonderful images offered up.
The image I chose to work with this week is called "Catmail". It is a silhouette image, so there was  no coloring involved this week.
Catmail

I did add distressing ink around the image though to give it an aged look. The background paper is stamped with various cancelled postage stamps and I have added a black velvet ribbon.  I attached the image with black brads.

This was a very simple card to put together, but I just love how it came out. Sometimes simplicity is best.  Well I hope that I have inspired you to play along this week...so get busy! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

  • Ends Jan 31 - Delicious Doodles - Ribbon
  • Ends Jan 30 - Moving along with the times - cats
  • Ends Feb 3 - Digi Stamps 4Joy - Add Ribbon

True Soulmates

It has been a long week. My husband just got back from Haiti. I know seems like a strange place to visit, but it was not a vacation. He went with a group of people to help paint a school. We have been married a loooong time, but I still miss him when we are not together. It is usually me traveling for my job, but not recently.

So in honor of his return, I thought I would share a Valentine's Day card I made.

The sentiment comes from a set of clear rubber stamps from Fiskars called "Lasting Love Quotes." I got it at Tuesday Morning for $3.99 marked down from $16.99. Now that was a deal. The set has 16 Quotes and 4 different heart rubber stamps. I am all about the bargains!

Many of my Valentines have been Vintage/Shabby Chic as this style works great on Love/Valentine Day cards. I only have 1 left as they have all sold in my Etsy store. This one included. It sold before I could even post about it. Perhaps I should make some more?

Anyway, off to spend some time with my hubby! Hope you all have a great weekend.

No cracks about your age

My husband has a birthday coming up and I thought this image would be perfect for a birthday card. It is another one of the images that I won from QKR Stempede called "Plummers Crack." We have been married for 22 years this August so we are past the "Lovey" cards, although every once in a while I do slip one in. I think he will get a laugh out of this one, what do you think?

I used the sketch from The House that stamps. I got the idea to use this stamp when I saw the challenge going on over at Corrosive Challenges called "All work and No Play." I remembered I had this plummer image and thought it would be perfect for that challenge. I remembered there are a few birthday challenges going on, so I went with that theme.

Challeng Winners - February & March 2023

Hello everyone. As you may have noticed, I have been MIA for the last couple of months. Life has been very busy and it has been difficult...
